Flawed Hero: Truth, Lies and War Crimes, is the fall-from-grace story of Australia’s most decorated soldier, Ben Roberts Smith.
The author, Chris Masters, a veteran journalist whose reporting for the Sydney Morning Herald led to the defamation trial of the Century, will be joined by Richard Walsh, the book’s editor, a lawyer and a leading public intellectual. Bookoccino’s Raymond Bonner, himself a lawyer and former investigative journalist, will lead a discussion ranging from the difficulties and challenges of reporting a story like this, to the obstacles posed by Australia’s defamation law.Tuesday 5th September, from 6pm
