Is a River Alive? By Robert Macfarlane
I did not expect to find “Is a River Alive?” such an interesting even easy read. In flowing lyrical prose at once descriptive and informative. Macfarlane reveals the beauty of nature and the importance of the whole ecosystem to the health of a river. Similar to Oceans with David Attenborough. Macfarlane’s characters, met on rivers polluted by extractive industries, explore the question, is a river alive? If you care about the environment read this book. It vividly reveals the dire consequences of disrespecting the ecosystems we all depend on.
