Charles Massy in Conversation with Marian Wilkinson
“What would you think if I told you that regenerative agriculture can both save the planet and renew human health, at the same time”.
For 40 years Charles has farmed his 1820ha property ‘Severn Park’, on the Monaro tablelands of southern NSW. Born into a farming family with a great love of the bush, he took on the property at 22, adhering to standard industry practices. With growing unease, he set about ploughing the land, overgrazing his pastures and fighting a drought. Until the innocent question of his grandchild started a journey to deeper understanding.
“Why do we have to kill things to grow things?”
Slowly but surely, Charles learnt to read the landscape and empower his land to heal, renew and sustain a healthy farming practice.
Charles with be joined in conversation by Marian Wilkinson, two time Walkley winner, former producer of Four Corners, and currently writing ‘The Carbon Club’, on the politics of climate change.
Can the well-worn narrative of struggling Australian farmers be corrected, for the benefit of us all?
