Location: Bookoccino. 66 Old Barrenjoey Road, Avalon

An evening of myth, meaning, and community.
We will gather as community where the external noise can dissolve into stillness. Here we will visit the realm of myth and story and steep for a time in the timeless space where all the characters from all the stories of our past live.
For as long as humans have existed, we’ve sat together in the glow of firelight to listen, reflect, and feel. Stories help us understand who we are, where we’ve been, and how we might move forward with more courage and clarity.
This evening is an invitation to slow down, settle into the body, and listen deeply. We’ll begin with a heart-opening cacao ceremony led by Sontaan Hopson, inviting you to soften, listen inward, and return the wisdom of the heart before Storyteller Nathan Meola guides you through the twists and turns of an ancient tale accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Hamzah Mas who will weave us all into a mythic musical soundscape.
Afterward, we open the circle for reflection, conversation, and meaning-making. Together, we “feed the story” by offering the images, feelings, and insights that stirred inside us.
No experience is needed. Just bring your presence, your curiosity, and your willingness to be moved.
What to bring:
- Things to make you comfortable – Cushion, Blanket, Rug, Stuffed Toy.
- Childlike wonder
- A couple of friends
Join us for an evening that opens the heart, quietens the mind, and reconnects you to something ancient within.
About Your Hosts:
Nathan Charles Meola is a storyteller, intuitive bodyworker, and master of ceremonies from Sydney, now calling Bellingen home. He has been influenced by a lineage of renowned storytellers and teachers including Martin Shaw, Robert Bly, Michael Meade, James Hillman, Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Marion Woodman, and Stephen Jenkinson.
Nathan began telling stories through the mythopoetic men’s movement, using myth, fairytale, and ceremony to help men and boys navigate grief, descent, and renewal. He has hosted many story circles and community gatherings, always with reverence for the old stories and their power to awaken the imagination, heal wounds of the soul, and repair culture.
Hamzah Mas is a multi-disciplinary artist integrating Movement, Music and Theatre Practices to connect us together in the realms of storytelling. He seeks to tap us into the depth of mindful play through attunement, listening and collective embodiment.
Sontaan Hopson is a Cacao facilitator in the Northern beaches, devoted to sharing this ancient heart-opening medicine in grounded, intentional ceremony with the community.
Trained also as a spiral practitioner, body worker, and yoga teacher, Sontaan weaves movement, breath, and embodied awareness into her offerings to create transformative spaces for healing and remembrance.
